Art Brings İMÇ Back to Its Roots

A long-term project developed by oktowallz—and a first for Istanbul—the wall gallery “İMÇ_02” is set to open at İMÇ Second Block.

The project takes its cue from İMÇ’s original vision in the 1960s, when contemporary artists were given space as an integral part of the building’s architectural and public design. Nine works created specifically for İMÇ by Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Eren Eyüboğlu, Nedim Günsur, Füreya Koral, Yavuz Görey, Ali Teoman Germaner, Sadi Diren, and Kuzgun Acar—each engaging directly with public space—transformed the complex into not just a commercial hub, but one of modern Turkey’s most significant art venues.

ReMap: Old Maps Unfold, New Routes Are Drawn

As oktowallz closes out 2025, it bids farewell to the year with a special exhibition that looks simultaneously to the past and to today’s street culture. Tourist maps published from the 1920s to the present—drawn from the archive of the platform’s founder, Görkem Kızılkayak—set out on an entirely new journey. Once folded and tucked into pockets as tools for exploring the city, these collectible maps are reinterpreted and brought back to life through the hands of nine artists.

Beril Ateş, Bülent Gültek, Cins, Kadir Çıtak, Kaybid, Max on Duty, Meck, MRE, and No More Lies transform these rare maps—each a historical document—

A solo exhibition by Kaybid, featuring paintings that hum their own songs, invites you to listen, feel, and maybe even dance.

Volta is more than a street art exhibition — it’s a reflection of Kaybid’s multifaceted creative practice. Visitors will experience a blend of collage, animation, and AI-generated music, as Kaybid moves between roles: street artist, record label owner, and songwriter.

Kaybid:

“Volta is also a musical term, used to mark alternate endings in repeated sections of a piece. For example, the first time it’s played, you hear the ‘first volta,’ and on the next repeat, the ‘second volta.’ It means the same section ends differently each time — just like the mental loops I walk while wandering the city streets. Always starting in the same place, always ending with a different story.”

Proudly presented by Kaybid Records

For this exhibition, Kaybid Records focuses on music created in collaboration with AI, inspired by the artworks on view. The aim is to explore experimental, forward-thinking sounds — and open a dialogue around creativity between human and machine.
