Art Brings İMÇ Back to Its Roots

A long-term project developed by oktowallz—and a first for Istanbul—the wall gallery “İMÇ_02” is set to open at İMÇ Second Block.

The project takes its cue from İMÇ’s original vision in the 1960s, when contemporary artists were given space as an integral part of the building’s architectural and public design. Nine works created specifically for İMÇ by Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Eren Eyüboğlu, Nedim Günsur, Füreya Koral, Yavuz Görey, Ali Teoman Germaner, Sadi Diren, and Kuzgun Acar—each engaging directly with public space—transformed the complex into not just a commercial hub, but one of modern Turkey’s most significant art venues.

Inspired by landmarks such as Le Mur d’Oberkampf in Paris, Westend Walls and Norvest Walls in Copenhagen, Straat Museum in Amsterdam, LX Factory in Lisbon, Darwin in Bordeaux, The Bowery Wall in New York, and Wynwood Walls in Miami, İMÇ_02 is conceived as an ever-evolving open-air program that invites local and international street artists to create freely in public space. Rather than treating the wall as a static exhibition surface, İMÇ_02 approaches it as a living, changing site of expression—one that remains in constant dialogue with the city’s everyday life.

Hosted by the İMÇ Management, the first edition of İMÇ_02 will feature No More Lies, an artist who has collaborated with oktowallz on numerous projects over the years. The live painting performance will take place on December 22–23, 2025, at İMÇ Second Block.

The work will be produced using paints generously provided by Colorbox, a long-time supporter of oktowallz and street artists working in public space. oktowallz extends its sincere thanks to No More Lies, the İMÇ Management, and Colorbox for their support.
